Struggling to stay productive with the easing of lockdown mesaures?
Here are 5 of the top tips to reduce procrastination and increase productivity, as used by the most efficient people!
1. Do the thing you want to do last, first!
Eat the frog! Your “frog” is your biggest, most important task, the one you are most likely to procrastinate on if you don’t do something about it. By completing the task you are dreading most, first, you will be able to complete the rest of the day in a better mood, and be more productive.
2. Schedule power hours
Deep work is described as an uninterrupted period of working. Book a few hours out of the diary and have a power hour, silence your emails and put the phone on do not distrub to crack on with those smaller tasks that have been on the back of your mind for ages.
3. Create a to do list
Writing things down has been proven to reduce stress and make people feel more relaxed. By writing a to do list, you will get a feeling of being in control of your life and actions. Crossing items off your list will give you a sense of accomplishment and progress. This helps you motivate yourself through the day.
4. Break large tasks into smaller ones
There are a lot of reasons why people procrastinate, possibly the most common being that their to do list looks too daunting and they simply don't know where to start.
To eliminate this, big to dos can be broken up into smaller ones. On my to do list for example is the word 'blog post' which can be broken down into: Topic, Research, Write, Publish, Social Media Post (if you came from social media, Hello!)
5. Take breaks
Nobody has the ability to fully focus for the whole work day, which is why breaks are so important! By taking breaks, productivity levels are increased and tasks can be looked at from a new perspective, keeping you motivated and efficient all day.
